-

Harvest - Lancaster, Ohio - 2002 - 2005
-
Metamora
Music Day - Metamora, Indiana - Labor Day Weekend, 2001
- 2005
-
Southeast
Ohio Dulcimer Festival, Athens, Ohio - November,
2002-2005
Tom and Missy focus on techniques of playing the mountain dulcimer; not just how to play
a few select tunes. Their philosophy is that if a student learns all aspects of playing that the student will be capable of playing tunes they
like. While Tom and Missy teach a student to read music, they discourage dependency on transcribed music (tablature). Therefore, being able to
read music or to know music theory is not a requirement to attend their classes.
Tom & Missy have designed a six-lesson series of classes for the absolute beginning student of any age. At the end of this series the
student will learn the basics, chords, finger picking, flat picking, various rhythms, and reading tablature with interspersed music
theory and care of the instrument.
Both Tom and Missy are available for private
lessons. Tom is available throughout the week. Missy is available most evenings. They will give private weekend lessons depending on
performance and festival schedules. The first private lesson is free. Subsequent lessons are $30/hour or $100 for four lessons paid in
advance.
Performance, workshop and festival fees are negotiable.
